Test for fear of mirrors (Eisoptrophobia)

Test for fear of mirrors (Eisoptrophobia). Eisoptrophobia is a psychological disorder in which a person experiences intense fear and anxiety when looking in the mirror. This fear can manifest itself in different ways: from mild discomfort to panic attacks. The causes of esoptrophobia can be varied: traumatic experience, cultural and mystical beliefs, as well as personal fears and anxieties.

People with esoptrophobia often have negative associations with mirrors. Some believe that a mirror can "capture" their soul or cause visions of the reflection of which they are afraid. They may also fear that they can see something supernatural or even their own "dark self" in the mirror.

Treatment for esoptrophobia includes cognitive behavioral therapy, which helps patients change negative thoughts and behaviors related to mirrors. Exposure therapy, in which a person gradually faces the source of fear, can also be effective. Psychotherapy and support from professionals can help overcome fear and improve quality of life.
