Optimism and pessimism (from Lat. - optimus - the best, pessimus - the worst) - characterize positive or negative system of views about the world and about current and expected events, etc. As a foundational of human psychological emotional characteristics, it sets the general tone and attitude toward perception and assessment of reality. The optimist has a positive and joyful tone of life perception and expectations of the future while the pessimist lives in a mood of doom and hopelessness.

Professor A. Lazursky writes that depending on a prevalence of good or bad mood days, we can determine if we are optimist or pessimist. Such people look at the world through pink or dark glasses.
